Environmental Management of the Site

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study has been undertaken to assess the environmental impacts (including noise, air, water, construction waste, visual, landscape and land use during the construction and operation phases of the project) and to identify appropriate mitigation measures. The EIA Report was approved by EPD under the EIA Ordinance and an Environmental Permit was granted for the construction and operation of the designated project. The recommended mitigation measures in the Environmental Permit have been incorporated into the project. These include:

Extensive planting and high quality hard landscaping adjacent to the new roads
Maximum use of excavated material arising from formation project at Jordan Valley
Restricted dredging and filling rates
Regulated disposal of dredged material to designated dumping areas
Use of silt curtains around dredging and filling areas, and filling behind new seawalls where possible
